Geothermal as an Adaptation Strategy

In my 2010 Climatopolis, I talk at length about individual and firm level experimentation as we seek new solutions for adapting to climate change shocks.  I'm optimistic that the best ideas (in a world with 7 billion people) will be quite good and these ideas will be public goods that diffuse widely.  Now that folks are talking about adaptation, the NY Times is getting into the act. Here is an article today about the possibility of widespread geothermal use to heat and cool buildings.  Note that such actions chip away at the power company's monopoly.  Perhaps small is beautiful?
